What to Do After a Motorcycle Accident

Being involved in a motorcycle accident can be overwhelming. Knowing the steps to take immediately after can protect your safety, rights, and well-being. Here's what to do:

1. Ensure Your Safety First

  • Move to a safe location if you're able to do so without causing further injury.

  • Turn off your motorcycle to reduce the risk of fire or further damage.

  • Stay calm and avoid removing your helmet unless absolutely necessary.

2. Check for Injuries

  • Assess yourself and others involved for injuries.

  • Call emergency services (999) immediately, even if injuries seem minor.

  • Do not attempt to move anyone who appears seriously injured unless they’re in immediate danger.

3. Document the Scene

  • Take photos of:

    • The vehicles involved

    • Damage to your motorcycle

    • The surrounding area (road conditions, signs, skid marks, etc.)

    • Any visible injuries

  • Gather information from the other party:

    • Name and contact details

    • Insurance provider and policy number

    • Driver’s license and vehicle registration

  • Speak to witnesses and ask for their contact information.

4.Contact MCAMS

  • Be honest and stick to the facts, but avoid admitting fault until all information has been reviewed.

  • In the event of a non fault accident contact MCAMS
